ccWAP.com has just released a free WAP eShop product, which makes it possible for anyone to start business in the wireless web. With a very easy installation and a one-button upload procedure, this product can be used by anyone. 9. Germany is not the biggest WAP-market after all
Although the WAP-technology in Germany is among the most sophisticated in the world, the German population is not that interested in WAP-services as many experts think. In a research conducted by the research group Taylor Nelson Sofres Germany is the smallest of the four major WAP-markets in the world (USA, France, Germany and the UK). People in the United Kingdom are most likely to buy a WAP-phone and actually use its WAP-services.
10. New US phones more than ready for WAP
According to a marketing research by NPD INTELECT, over 48% of all new mobiles in the US are WAP-compatible. Unfortunately, this fact does not also increase the use of WAP in the US by leaps and bounds. Instead, there is a slow, but steady increase of the WAP-using population. As the prices are going down and the new technology will appear, the new WAP-phones will actually be used for the wireless web, rather than for phone calls.
11. New WAP Palm Pilot
The new Palm m100 is supposed to bring a new group of customers to Palm. This product also is WAP-compatible. With a very low price, far below $ 200, it is affordable for people not only from the business world. How the new Palm will do, depends mostly on other companies, which are even announcing MP3 players for the m100. (www.palm.com )
12. WAP-Homepage for German AOL customers
In Germany, even private persons start to have an interest in an own WAP-homepage. AOL Germany now fills this need with officially offering WAP-space for their customers. AOL Germany also offers a WML-course and a lot of information for any WAP new comer. (www.aol.de ) See also "Turn any server into a WAP-server"

With ccMagic you can turn any server into a WAP-server ! No more need to host your WAP-pages at a specialized wapServer. Use any server for hosting your WAP-sites. Easy installation. All WAP-pages will then be available over any WAP-device. No programming knowledge needed.
15. DoCoMo still thinking about US market
NTT DoCoMo has been a market miracle ever since they introduced I-mode to the Japanese. Now, DoCoMo is thinking about bringing the hyped technology to the US in a joint venture with SBC Communications and Bell South Corp. Today, it is still unclear, how much of the "cake" each of the companies would get, but since the technology is moving fast, there will be a move and decision by DoCoMo this fall. 16. WAP in Argentina
Argentina is one of the most advanced countries in telecommunications of South America. Now, Terra Networks Argentine have launched a web and WAP-site for their customers. The sites will include news, stocks, sports and weather data.
17. German government gets 50 billion Euros for UMTS licenses
Finally, the big run for the German UMTS licences is over. The record sum of 50 billion Euros will be paid to the German government, giving the government a huge weapon to fight any econonomical problems. The big winners in the game were Deutsche Telekom's T-Mobil, E-Plus-Hutchison, Mannesmann Mobilfunk, Viag Interkom , MobilCom and 3G. Experts think that the extremely
high costs might hurt the customer in the long run.
