Motorola and the leading Russian Phonecompany started the first data
transfer with GPRS. This means that Russia has just been introduced to the
age of WAP. Russia's economy might get a push from this step.
2. Nokia and Zygo Communications (May 2000)
The British IT-company Zygo Communications is the top online-content
provider in its country. Now, with the cooperation of Nokia they have
started a WAP-project which will offer its customers most content on WAP.
This cooperation will help to strengthen the leading position of Zygo
Communications in England and Europe.
3. Order movie passes online (May 2000)
In the Swedish capital Stockholm a big test with many movie theaters just
began. Any Swedish customer can order a pass for a movie with his/her mobile
and will then receive a code. After showing the code at the movie theater
he/she will be let in to the movie theater. Many experts believe that within
a few years everyone will order pizzas, movies, flowers or anything else
over the WAP-phone
4. Viva Brasil ! The WAP-revolution in Brasil. (May 2000)
The finance conglomerate Sul America (www.sulamerica.com.br) is very
interested in WAP and has invested over 280 Million US-Dollars to open up
the markets. The finance giant hopes that mobile information will be in high
demand in their country. The 16 million users of today are forecasted to
turn into 40 millions within the next 4 years.
5. Reuters and WAP. (May 2000)
The Swedish company Room 33 has a deal with one of the biggest news agencies
of the world: Reuters. Room 33 will get the news from Reuters and offer it
with WAP in English, German, French and Spanish. The news will be
